Welcome to
THE LOS ANGELES PINK PISTOLS WEBSITE

"Thirty-one states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

--Jonathan Rauch, Salon Magazine, March 13, 2000

We did. There are now over 34 Chapters in 25 States, One Province and Two Countries so far, and more are starting up every day. We are dedicated to the legal, safe, and responsible use of firearms for self-defense of the sexual-minority community. People who hate and fear gay, lesbian, bi, trans or polyamorous persons have no right to use us as targets for their rage.   Self-defense is our RIGHT.

The Los Angeles group currently has 15 active members. Our membership hails from the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles/West Hollywood, and Orange County. Some of us are new to using a gun, some shoot competitively, some are men, some are women, some are single, some are partnered, some are gay, some are straight (but not narrow).

On range days, experienced gun owners (sometimes competitive marksmen) are on hand to teach the basics of gun safety, and to assist those new to firing a gun. Owning your own gun is not required. There are usually extra guns available for those without one to try.

"If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them... "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in," I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren't here." --U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), CBS- TV's "60 Minutes," 2/5/95 Member HCI National Committee

How many NRA Gun Safety Rules Are Broken By Dianne Feinstein and Al Gore?
1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances.

2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

3. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does.

When Using Or Storing A Gun, Always Follow These NRA Rules:
Know your target and what is beyond. Be absolutely sure you have identified your target beyond any doubt. Equally important, be aware of the area beyond your target. This means observing your prospective area of fire before you shoot. Never fire in a direction in which there are people or any other potential for mishap. Think first. Shoot second.
